Mark Tanton is the founder of and Chief Executive Officer of Red Cap Energy (Pty) Ltd, a private company developing renewable energy projects in South Africa since 2009. Red Cap has to date successfully developed 190 MWs of wind projects that are in operation and 420 MWs with environmental approval. Mark is the cofounder of Khana Energy (Pty) Ltd, a majority black owned investment company with ownership in 280 MW of wind farms under construction.
He was previously the CEO and Director of CEF Sustainability (Pty) Ltd, prior to which he worked as a Project Manager for the United Nations Development Programme.
Mark has been a director of the Red Cap Kouga Wind Farm (Pty) Ltd and the Gibson Bay Wind Farm (Pty) Ltd. He is on the board of the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) which he previously chaired.
In 2014 he was selected in the Recharge 4040 global new energy leaders for young new-energy pioneers and in 2015 SAWEA awarded the inaugural Wind Energy Pioneer Award to Mark in
acknowledgement for his contribution to the industry.
