Dr Rob Simmons

Ecologist, Environmental Consultant and Conservation Biologist

Rob is ecologist, environmental consultant and conservation biologist with 36 years’ research experience in North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. He specializes on raptors, and he and his students at the FitzPatrick Institute, UCT, study Black Harrier ecology (20 years), wind farm monitoring and impacts (8 years), vulture ecology (5 years), the impact of domestic cats on biodiversity (5 years) and the evolution of giraffe. He has published two books and over 110 papers as a research associate at UCT. He runs his own Environmental Consultancy (Birds & Bats Unlimited) specialising in renewable energies with Marlei Martins based in Cape Town.
