Call for Abstracts opens!
Following, a successful academic wind power conference in 2017, the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA) in proud partnership with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) will host its the 3rd annual WindAc Africa on 5th & 6th November, 2018.
WindAc Africa, is a collaborative networking environment in which dialogue between experienced researchers, motivated students and members of the wind industry is actively facilitated. The 2017 edition saw more than 120 attendees from countries including South Africa, USA, Denmark, Germany, UK and France and 50 students from leading South African universities participated.

Conference theme
To foster the aim of stimulating the exchange of global wind energy research, the theme of our international, interdisciplinary WindAc Africa 2018 conference is “Knowledge for an integrated power transition”.
The topics** of interest include, but are not limited to:
- The Wind Resource
- Wind Turbine Technology (Embedded & Utility)
- Wind Turbine Operation (O&M)
- Grid Integration
- Wind Power and Environment
- Wind Energy Economics & Finance
- Energy Policy
- Wind for Communities
- New Emerging Markets in an African Context
Please Note:
We strongly encourage case study presentations illustrating work and research related to these topics.
The WindAc Conference is a CPD provider for the Engineering Council of South Africa.
Contributors are hereby invited to submit abstracts to our conference by clicking here and following the guidelines for submission.
All selected speakers will be informed of their nomination by 1 August 2018 and will be invited to submit a full paper for consideration. Please note that researchers can choose to either: 1) Submit an existing manuscript with published work or 2) Submit new unpublished findings.
Should a speaker present new findings in his/her paper, he/she has the option to have his/her manuscript peer-reviewed by the Scientific Advisory Board 2018
Publication of proceedings and video-recordings
WindAc Africa conference proceedings will be accessible via restricted online platform housed on the WindAc website. All presentations made will be video-recorded and accessible to conference delegates shortly after the conference. Relevant information such as proceedings, presentations and video-recordings will be available online to the public, 2 months after the conference. Public access is aimed at maximising the exposure of the conference speakers and the dissemination of knowledge.
